Explore Stockholm’s royal history, waterfront culture, and natural beauty. Begin in the medieval streets of Gamla Stan, then visit the museums of Djurgården, home to famous attractions from historic warships to ABBA. Finish with a trip through the Stockholm Archipelago for a peaceful escape among its many islands. Designed for travellers seeking a balance of sightseeing, great food, and scenic experiences.
Day 1
Morning: Focus on the historical center of Gamla Stan. Consider a ghost tour in the evening.
Start your journey on Stadsholmen, the island home to Gamla Stan. Begin early at Stortorget, the oldest square in the city, to beat the crowds, then walk to The Royal Palace for the Changing of the Guard. Visit the Stockholms Domkyrkoförsamling (Storkyrkan) to admire its dramatic medieval art.
Lunch: Dine at a classic Swedish tavern in Gamla Stan like Den Gyldene Freden, known for its historic, vaulted atmosphere and refined takes on traditional meatballs or herring.
Afternoon: Cross the bridge to the tiny, tranquil island of Riddarholmen. Explore the Riddarholmen Church, the final resting place of Swedish monarchs, and enjoy the panoramic views of the city hall across the water from the pier.
Evening: Wind down with an evening stroll through the narrow, lantern-lit alleys of Gamla Stan, stopping for a glass of aquavit or a craft beer in one of the hidden cellar bars tucked away from the main thoroughfares.

Day 2
Morning: Explore the neighborhoods of Östermalm, Norrmalm, and Södermalm, and dedicate time to the world-class museums on Djurgården.
Head to Djurgården to visit the Vasa Museum, home to the remarkably preserved 17th-century warship. The sheer scale of this exhibit is a testament to Swedish engineering and history.
Lunch: Make your way to the Östermalms Food Hall. This architectural gem offers a high-end food experience; sample fresh seafood, local cheeses, or the famous Swedish toast skagen in a vibrant, upscale market environment.
Afternoon: Continue your cultural immersion at ABBA The Museum nearby. Whether you are a fan of 70s pop or just interested in Sweden’s massive global cultural impact, this interactive experience is both fun and impeccably curated.
Evening: Enjoy a relaxed waterfront dinner in the Djurgården area, savoring contemporary Nordic cuisine while watching the evening ferries glide past the docks.
Day 3
Morning: Take an excursion to the archipelago. Don't miss experiencing 'Fika', the Swedish tradition of a coffee break with sweets.
Board a ferry from Nybrokajen for an excursion into the Stockholm Archipelago. Spend your morning on the water, watching the city skyline fade as you enter a landscape of thousands of pine-clad islands and rocky shores.
Lunch: Disembark at a picturesque island like Vaxholm or Grinda. Enjoy a picnic of local delicacies or dine at a seaside restaurant where the focus is entirely on hyper-fresh fish caught locally that morning.
Afternoon: Spend your afternoon hiking one of the many coastal paths or simply relaxing on the granite rocks by the water’s edge, fully embracing the Swedish concept of nature-as-recharge.
Evening: Return to the city by sunset as the archipelago turns gold. Conclude your trip with a celebratory dinner in the central Norrmalm district to toast the blend of history and nature you have experienced.
